About ninemsn Video
What is ninemsn Video?
ninemsn Video is a free online video streaming service of many of your favourite TV shows. It combines the latest catch-up content from Channel Nine, GO! and GEM.

What is streaming video?
Streaming is a process where data is sent in a way that allows it to be viewed as it is received rather than after the entire file has been downloaded. This means less waiting for your program to get started. For a smooth streaming experience on ninemsn Video you need an up-to-date web browser and a recent version of FLASH installed.

How often is content updated?
Programs will appear online soon after they have aired on the Channel Nine, GO! and GEM.

How much bandwidth will I use watching a clip on ninemsn Video?

If you have a download limit with your ISP, watching any streaming video content online will count towards this limit. The duration of each show is indicated alongside the episode number at the top of the player, along with the amount download traffic if you watched the entire episode at 2Mbps. At this rate, a 22- minute TV show would consume 300 MB, while a 42- minute TV show would consume 600 MB.

Our video player automatically adjusts the quality of our stream based on your available bandwidth and various other factors, making it difficult to give an exact figure.

How long are episodes available to view?
What we upload and how long the videos are available on the site depends on agreements with our content partners. Expiry dates are indicated for each show next to the season and episode number near the top of the page.
Troubleshooting
Why do I keep getting a message saying "this clip is not available" in my area?
The ninemsn Video streaming service is for Australian residents only and we do not have international streaming rights for this content. If you are attempting to view the content in another country or have an IP address that is not recognised as an Australian IP address, you will be served a notice to say "the video you are trying to watch cannot be viewed from your current country or location". If you require further assistance with this please contact our customer service department at customer.service@ninemsn.com.au.
Why do I only see the loading symbol where the video should be?
Some security programs, firewalls or routers may block your access. If you have firewall software installed on your machine (e.g.: Norton Personal Firewall, McAfee Personal Firewall etc) please ensure the ninemsn Video Internet address (catchup.ninemsn.com.au) has been added to the list of trusted sites within that software and/or within parental controls.

The loading symbol will also appear when the video is loading on your browser.

I have a fast broadband connection, why am I still having issues?
You may experience connection problems for a number of reasons, including:
  • High rates of Internet traffic can slow down your connection.
  • Your proximity to telephone substations (for ADSL connections) can vary speeds.
  • If you having multiple processes and computers using the same base connection (that is, your modem or hub) , may slow your connection speed.
  • Your wireless internet connections can get interrupted resulting in playback issues.
